On the “On the Road to Paradise” – a new memoir by Phil Page

The above mentioned memoir will be published on the 16th of November, 2026.

This memoir will travel over a period of eight decades through six countries in three different continents, all the while, trying to find “Paradise”.

Paradise is something most of us humans aspire to. But what is it?

Is it a place? Is it a state of mind? Is it a financial position? Can it me measured? Would we know if we achieved it? My answer to these questions can be expressed in one word, Happiness!

If we are completely happy in any one place at a particular time, we can consider ourselves to be truly in “Paradise”.

The title of the above book was first thought of during the early 1980s, while I lived on a very small South Pacific island, called Norfolk Island. The above book was going to be written then as the island seemed like paradise, but the time never really felt right. Now, nearly forty years later, and with a bit more life experiences and wisdom under ones belt, the time seems ripe.

The book will wonder in both time and space, but it will provide the reader with an insight into the writer’s pursuit of Paradise (happiness), while living in six countries on three continents.

Living in England during the Second World War as a young child; being bullied at primary and secondary school in Canada while freezing to death at the same time; finishing high school in Pasadena, California as the odd one out; finishing an apprenticeship near San Francisco during the early 1960s; moving to the “end of the world”, New Zealand, and getting involved with young people, and then falling in love; chasing that girl to a tiny island in the South Pacific with a population less than 2000; getting married and starting a family; involving oneself in politics, tourism and business on Norfolk Island; moving to Queensland, Australia, then building my own house, building and racing a Mustang, teaching children, travelling overseas and over most of Australia and finally retiring to a small town, Yarraman, miles from anywhere.

Without giving any more away, there is much, much more in the above book. You will just have to read it.
