Nature at its best!

I was sitting on our back verandah the other day and I was watching all the various birds landing on, in and under the intermingled hedge row on the other side of our driveway.

We are indeed fortunate in that a number of birds regularly visit this hedge, as it is comprised of several species of grevilleas out of the over 250 native to Australia. Within about 4m (4 1/2yds) of my seat were a number of Rainbow Lorikeets feeding on the Honey Gem Grevilleas, completely oblivious of my presence. By the way, these flowers contain a large amount of nectar, which is one of the prime Rainbow Lorikeet foods.

I grabbed my camera and here are a couple for your enjoyment. Both the bird and the shrub are typical of most of Australia, which I find very interesting and rather unique.

Enjoy!

Who’s a pretty bird then?

The nectar is at the base of each petal
I can eat upside down!
I can just reach it!
Did you say something?

If you wait a little while, nature usually comes to you. You just have to look in the right place and be patient.

Nature Rules!!!!!
